SERVICES
Laboratory of Chronology/LUOMUS provides high-quality radiocarbon dating, stable isotopic measurement and luminescence dating services for broad field of science. The laboratory possesses high-quality expertise for sample handling of large variety of organic and inorganic sample materials for isotopic ratio measurements. Radiocarbon measurements are performed with AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) method with the University of Helsinki accelerator facility. Stable isotopic ratio measurements of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen are made with two IRMS instruments. Luminescence dating of minerals in pottery, fireplaces and sediment formations are performed with an in-house TL/OSL facility.
